Online Publishing Resources

Need-to-Know URLs
The online version of the major trade magazine for book publishing news, deals, trends, people, and issues.
This online news source and database has a basic free version and a monthly subscription version and features listings of deals by category, with one-line pitch, publisher, agent, range of advance. The website has web pages for major players in the industry including editors and publishers, literary agents, bloggers, editorial and marketing freelancers, and consultants.
A good resource for insider, high-level information. They have a pdf of email address formats and main corporate phone numbers for the major publishing houses.
The destination for creative freelancers and aspiring writers, editors, journalists, and others. Excellent classes (live and virtual), Q&As with editors and agents, magazine profiles and recommendations for pitching.
Poets and Writers magazine is my favorite magazine on writers, writing, and publishing. A nice mix of inspiration, practical information, good writing, and programs and calls for writing that have all been vetted.
